BOSTON, April 28, 2020 -- GivingData today announced that David Goldsmith has joined the company as senior vice president of strategy. Goldsmith most recently served as chief strategy officer for WEGO Health, where he was responsible for business strategy, product innovation and partnership development.
“We are very pleased that David has joined the company as our head of strategy,” said Alf Gracombe, president and founder of GivingData. “His deep experience in the social impact sector and strong background in strategy and product development will help drive GivingData’s future success in the foundation community.”
In his new position, Goldsmith will work with the company's team on new business, product innovation and corporate strategy. This is a newly-created leadership role at GivingData responsible for ensuring the company’s continued success in helping foundations maximize their impact through new technologies.
“It’s an exciting time to join a mission-driven company that is committed to helping foundations move at the speed of digital to advance the work of the social impact sector,” said Goldsmith. “Having worked at the intersection of technology and philanthropy for many years, I look forward to bringing my experience to bear on GivingData’s future growth and product roadmap.”
Goldsmith brings an extensive background in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector, having started his career as development director of HandsNet, an online network launched in partnership with Apple and Hands Across America to connect organizations working on issues of social and economic justice.
In the private sector, Goldsmith went on to help launch Interactive Applications Group, a Washington, DC-based company that specialized in digital solutions for foundations and nonprofit advocacy organizations. The company was acquired in 2005 and Goldsmith went on to found New Philanthropy Media, a consulting firm focused on technology and social impact. From there, Goldsmith moved into digital health, where he worked with several early stage companies to bring new solutions to market with a particular focus on consumer engagement and patient empowerment. He has served on several nonprofit boards, including YTH.org, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Planned Parenthood.
